hello, sunshine

crop top: Wet Seal // skirt and necklace: thrifted // sandals: American Eagle
I almost didn't get photos of this outfit. I was having a wonky hair day, lost my iPhone remote, the sun was too harsh, and I started to wonder if it would happen. I decided to give up and wait for the sun to go down a little while I went on a snow cone date with my bestie. She dropped me off at home, I grabbed my tripod, set the timer on my camera app and snapped a couple of quick photos.

I'm so glad I did because I really loved wearing this outfit! I've been nervous to wear my crop top, fearing I would seem like I was trying too hard. I know you're all probably sick of seeing this skirt, but it literally goes with everything and I felt so comfortable, even in a crop top.

After these photos, I ran home and ditched the cute outfit for work out clothes and went for my very first run! Dago plays soccer twice a week at Zilker Park, so I thought it would be fun to get an hour of exercise in while he finished up and then surprise him after. I didn't actually intend to run--just a good walk along the trail--but I stepped into a decline in the trail and all of a sudden I was running. I didn't run much and got winded pretty quickly, but it was 98° and my first outing, so I don't feel too bad!

I'm so excited to make physical fitness a part of my self0care routine. You won't see me running any marathons any time soon, but I have enjoyed lacing up my shoes, being outside in the evening, and taking my happiness into my own hands.

  1. You rock that crop top! Love it. I keep trying to get fit but it never seems to maintain momentum... maybe after the move?

  2. You look so cute in that top! I have to admit, when the crop top came back I rolled me eyes big time. I was like really? But, I think if you wear it with a skirt (not baggy jeans via 90's) and have the right body for it (you do) it can look cute and flirty and casual. I ran regularly for like a week at the beginning of the summer and was feeling so good about myself for working out and then my schedule became out of control and I dropped it. Really hoping to get it back going again tomorrow. Yay for fitness baby steps!

  4. Lady, I will never get tired of seeing that skirt. It's SO cute! Normally I'm not a huge fan of the crop top look, but you are pulling it off effortlessly! Glad to hear you're digging the new fitness routine!

  5. Good for you to start running! I feel great afterwards but I hate it so much that I don't have much incentive to hit the gym (I even work at one, I have no excuse). I did manage to get my butt to the gym after my shift on Saturday where I just told myself to use the bicycle while watching an episode of Weeds. Easy right? Baby steps.

  6. I think you look super cute and I'm glad you got a little run in! Not all of my runs end up being full out "runs". It's nice to stop and breathe and walk sometimes, especially when I'm first getting into it again. If I push myself just a little too hard I end up with a bad taste in my mouth and don't do it again.
