holes in my closet // fall

I try to keep a running list in my phone of items I need to add to my wardrobe. There are some pieces I'm always looking for: a black blazer, the perfect pump; but splitting these lists into seasons is a good way to keep track of the trends I'm actually interested in wearing and what's missing from my seasonal closet. This also keeps me from buying yet another grey sweater or wasting money on trends I'm not into, just because they're on sale.

Now that it's officially fall, even if it doesn't really feel like it yet, I can stop looking for sundresses and shorts and start filling in some of the holes in my fall closet. Here's my list for the season so far:

__ leather ankle booties __
__ patterned tights __
__ raglan tee __
__ floral or creature printed blouse __
__ peter pan collared sweater __
__ sequin sweater __
__ long, heavy cardigan __
__ black ponte pants __
__ black jeans __
__ wool or tweed skirt __
__ leather skirt __
__ knee-length A-line skirt __
__ vintage coat __
__ big leather bag __
__ tartan scarf __
__ knit beanie __

What am I missing? What holes are you hoping to fill this fall?

  1. That is a damn good list! If you add all those items to your closet you will definitely be killing it this fall!!!

  2. love all of these!! i would love to add a sequined sweater to my closet too :)

  3. oxford booties? booties in general?
i dont know, list sounds great to me! I love fall!

  4. I shop Target for all my tights. They're cheap, cute, and just going to run eventually. I just got some black and nude lace/patterned ones, but you can find great deals on clearance tights there right after Christmas, which, conveniently, is when it starts to actually get cold in Texas! Then when they rip, I use them in the kitchen to strain things or store onions (they keep best that way).

My fall wardrobe wishlist includes wool shorts, a cream colored cable knit sweater, and a day-to-night pencil skirt.

  5. I love this list! I keep a running list on my phone too, though my list tends to be less specific. I love that you know exactly what you want though (whenever I start looking for a certain thing though I can never find it in stores, and I hate buying clothes online). H&M has some really nice looking black and coated black pants on their site that I've been eyeing myself, and I know I've seen nice patterned tights at Forever 21 and Urban Outfitters in the past. Depending on what you're wanting the leather bag for, I'm a fan of ebags.com for laptop totes and Ross for large handbags. I got my big leather bag at an Aldo I think, and a lot of times you're able to get a good quality leather bag at a nicer shoe store for around 80-100 bucks. I have a longish cardigan that I thrifted but was originally from American Eagle, so you can look there while you're searching for a new denim jacket. Piperlime has been my go-to for boots for the most part, though Amazon is starting to have a decent selection of shoes as well. Also, 6pm.com! I'm really wanting a mustard cardigan and some work appropriate, versatile skirts.

  6. This is really smart. I'm totally guilty of buying things just because it's on sale and I like the way it looks now. I have certain items that I'm always looking for too (like a nice pair of cognac boots and great heels for work) but I should start noting specific holes and try keeping to my list! You're a smart lady, you know that?
