the softest cardigan

sweater & necklace: Target // shirt: Forever 21 (similar) // watch: Anne Klein // glasses: BonLook

I've wanted a chartreuse cardi for a hot minute, as evidenced here, here, and here. Halloween was also payday, so I went to buy some candy at Target before work. I know I'm not alone in not being able to only buy what I came in for at Target, so it's no surprise that I left with a $9 bag of candy, three pairs of tights, and this chartreuse cardigan.

I have worn it almost every day since I bought it because it's THE SOFTEST sweater of all time, and the color really does go with everything I own. So far, it's primary use has been to pull together outfits otherwise consisting of boyfriend jeans and a solid tee, but I realized I hadn't blogged it yet, so I came up with something a little more exciting to show off its greatness.

I get a ridiculous amount of wear out of my navy gingham, so you should probably add it to your Must Have list, alongside a chambray button down and a utility jacket. To complete the look, I threw on my favorite statement necklace, which always makes me feel glam without putting in any effort.

What have you bought recently that you can't seem to take off?

  1. Gingham AND chartreuse???? Too good! This outfit is darling, and so are you, of course!

  2. Oh I will definitely be copying this outfit but with my mustard cardi! And I totally agree, a navy gingham is a closet staple, for surrrree.
Also, those jeans were obviously made for you. Just sayin.

  3. I need a good plaid shirt! I've been looking high and low for the perfect one.

  4. To be honest, I can't stop wearing the sweats that my boyfriend got me. I know it sounds weird but when I am doing homework those puppies are my best friends.

I love the navy gingham. Before blogging I didn't own very much gingham or blue and now I own so much of both!

  5. This is definitely one of my favorites of your outfits so far. It's something I can totally recreate..... after driving to Target on my lunch break for this sweater.

  6. It is so satisfying when you buy something you want to wear all the time! I always know I've made a great purchase when I can't wait to wear it immediately and just keep re-wearing it. Every once in a while I come home with something and don't wear it for a couple of weeks and every time that happens I'm just like uh oh, bad purchase decision. I think a lot of times that happens when I'm not sure how to wear it, or where it's appropriate to wear it, which is why I just need to stop buying clothes I don't immediately have outfit ideas (that I would actually wear) for. Sometimes I'm an idiot and am like, you could totally be the type of person who wears X and then I get home and try it on and just don't have the confidence to wear it. Usually I end up finding something on Pinterest that encourages me to wear it later on, but still. Long story short, good job (and glad so see this success after yesterday's sad story)!

  7. I have been looking everywhere for a mustard yellow cardigan that clearly only exists in my head. This color seems like it would have almost the same effect, and I'd never thought to consider it before. So, thanks for the heads up!

  8. i love that sweater, the color, goodness its perfect. recently i bought a cable knit sweater from h&m and basically I want to wear it everyday.

  9. Love the chartreuse with the navy checks! The bonus is that it also looks so comfy! And I totally have the same problem in Target. I literally cannot spend less than $50 when I go in... it's kind of a problem.

  10. I love the gingham! That sweater does look amazing!

  11. This color combo is Killer with a capital K. I've been hunting for a navy gingham with no luck so far. I'm jealous about perfectly you tucked your shirt under your cardi- mine always looks wonky, you make it look easy!

  12. You found the softest cardigan at Target?? While I'm surprised to hear that, I am not surprised you came out with more than you were planning on! Target has that affect on people, fur sure.

  13. I love this and have similar pices, great inspiration! Also, they should just rename Target "buy All the Things."
