a little plaid, a little sparkle

dress: Forever 21 // shirt: American Eagle // tights: Loft // necklace: J.Crew // boots: Chinese Laundry

I know everyone will be sharing their NYE looks this week, but this is actually what I wore NYED...that's a thing right? The day of New Year's Eve? Totally. I love my sparkle, and I love my plaid, so why not layer 'em and wear them for day? I know I'm blogging this in 2014, but this might be one of my favorite outfits that I wore in 2013.

I spent my NYE with friends at a house party wearing sequins and ankle strap flats, playing with sparklers, and dancing to Beyoncé. I left around 11 pm so I could get home to Dago, his mom, and his niece who had been staying with us for a few days. One of the cool things about being in a relationship is exchanging traditions. For New Year's, Dago's family eats 12 grapes at midnight. Of course, he bought the biggest darn grapes he could find, and it took me 10 minutes to eat them all. I better have an awesome year!

I spent the rest of this week in kind of grubby clothes that won't make it to the blog. Something about working on holidays just makes me want to go in my pjs. I didn't take it that far, but I definitely didn't wear anything bloggable. I think it was a pretty good way to start out 2014.

How did you spend New Year's?

  1. I need this dress in my life! It is perfect!
And I spent my NYED at work with only 3 others (the perks of being a newbie -__-) and then my NYE on the couch. Yepp, I looked totally glam with my Christmas bunny leggings, sweatshirt, and slippas. Mhmmm.

  6. If I had a dress with a higher neckline, I would be copying this outfit in a heartbeat. I love the way that you layer button downs! I swear, it's an art that I have yet to master.

  8. I never, ever think about wearing plaid with black. I always just immediately think plaid goes with brown for something, but this is so cute! What a fun combo!
