30x30 | one

top: American Eagle (similar) // pants: Forever 21 // shoes: Steve Madden

photos by Briley Noel

I wanted to start off my 30x30 with the two items that inspired me to do it. These pants and this top are two of the most difficult items in my closet to style. I've actually only worn the blouse once on the blog, and I think only two times in life. The overwhelming response on styling these pants has been to go with a color in the same tone, so I thought this purple blouse (that even has a little bit of the jade-green in the embroidery) would be a good pick.

Seeing it in photographs, I actually don't like it as much as I thought I would. I like the colors together, but the two pieces are just too complicated and the shapes don't flatter me when combined.

Oh well, that's part of what the 30x30 is about! Trying new things, being creative, and possibly even letting go of things that just don't have a place in my closet so that someone else can love them.

  2. Live and learn! I sometimes don't like outfits as much after I see the photos either!

  3. I can definitely see that these would be difficult pants to style, but I think you did a nice job with these outfit!

  4. Haha, after I read this post I all went back to the previous post to be like hmm, how would I style these two challenging pieces? I'm voting for some polka dot on polka dot and floral on floral action! Shape/fit wise, i can't tell from the pictures how they would work together, but I think these are two pieces where other than that one standard outfit you have to go big or go home. It might be horrible, but that's where my brain is taking me. I'm seriously excited to see how you remix all of these clothes!

  5. Always best to start with the hardest pieces! I haven't done a 30x30 in a while, I might have to jump on the bandwagon and do another one soon, especially with spring coming up! I'm excited to see what outfits you come up with!

  6. You are braver than I am doing a 30 for 30! I've always wanted to do one but they stress me out. I can't wait to see all of the combinations you come up with!
I actually like these colors together and this outfit. I think jewel tones look nice together.
    Also, I love those shoes!

  7. I love these two pieces separately, but I think they're a bit too busy for each other. however, i LOVE these two colors together, and i probably would have never paired them together!

  12. I so love those pants, but I can totally see how they'd be difficult to style. I feel like I would just perpetually wear them with a grey v-neck t-shirt. Though, that's what I perpetually wear with pants, period. I'm such a creature of habit!
