Do I look like a VIP? I wore this outfit the other night for the VIP Preview of Austin's first Uptown Cheapskate. The store is similar to your Buffalo Exchanges and Plato's Closets, but, in my opinion, it's better. The gals who work there are cute and savvy, and they're into buying your gently-loved clothing for a reasonable price. And they sell other people's previously-loved items for a reasonable price, too!

The Austin location is right in my neighborhood, in the same shopping center as my favorite Kerbey Lane restaurant location. One morning after brunch, I wandered over to see what this new place was all about. The manager greeted me and explained that they weren't selling clothes yet, but that they were buying clothes to fill up the store so they could open soon. Like a good style blogger, I had a bag of perfectly good Buffalo Exchange rejects in my car. I brought them in and made $50 in just a few minutes! I called up my friend and told her to hurry over and make some cash and take a look at the store. Over the next few weeks, I told several more girlfriends about it, sold a bunch more clothes, and started getting really excited for the store to open.

The open store looks awesome and I already brought home some really cute pieces! You'll have to wait til after the 30x30 to see them on the blog, but I did bring home this super cute vintage top, a yellow corduroy mini skirt, and a polka dot tee. If you're in Austin, make sure to pop in to buy and to sell! You can follow them on Facebook too for updates about the store and what's trending.

This isn't a sponsored post, I just really dig this store! All opinions, as always, are my own.

  3. Ahhhhh, memories. The pamcakes at Kerby Lane..........yes I meant "pam-cakes" as in the way Hellboy pronounces pancakes.

  4. Of course, my question is whether they buy/sell plus size. Both Buffalo Exchange and Plato's Closet do a terrible job of this which is really stupid. I think that would be a great market for the buy-sell stores, because so much of plus size shopping is necessarily online because stores don't carry clothes for us. Also, size fluctuation is a real thing, and results in constantly having great stuff in good condition that I don't ware for months at a time.

  6. We have an Uptown Cheapskate close to where I live in KS and I LOVE it! I think it's better than Plato's Closet as well, but partly because it takes me forever to drive to Plato's Closet. Glad you found some good things!! :) Can't wait to see them!

  7. I am seriously jelly of this thrift store! The only thing we have around here is Plato's Closet besides Goodwill and it's fine but they don't pay much for sold clothes and the selection isn't the best. Also, serious love to that red dress. Need me some more red in my wardrobe. And yellow. I seem to have a lot of cool tones in my closet right now.

  8. I really need to stop by! I have a pile of clothes I want to get rid of, and I was thinking about selling them on poshmark, but this sounds like a better idea!

  9. I don't usually like orange, but the way you styled this dress is so beautiful! I love your shoes, especially; they look like they can add interest to any outfit.
