Floral and stripes forever, my dears. I realized when I was putting together my many days, many ways post this month that I haven't actually worn this top much on the blog, even though it's easily one of my most worn items in life. When I don't know what to wear, I throw it on with my boyfriend jeans and nude flats and run out the door. I've actually been looking for a replacement, just in case, but I've never found one that fits me as well as this one. And it's from friggen Zumiez! I know, weird.

I mentioned in yesterday's post that I came up with all of the outfits for my 30x30 ahead of time. Every week when I go to shoot my outfits with Briley, I do a little editing to my "equations" to see if there's something better that I missed in my initial pairings. This is one of the outfits I almost missed, and I'm so glad I didn't! I was running late (seriously, when am I not?) the other day, and, as I've mentioned, I'm only wearing items from my 30 picks til the challenge is done. I grabbed both of these pieces and put them together and was thrilled with the outfit. I got to work and pulled up my spreadsheet and realized that I hadn't even included it as an official outfit, so I erased something boring and replaced it with this.

I've already worn this outfit twice, once to work and once on the weekend, and gotten lots of compliments both times. Is it just me, or is that so validating? I think it's probably what caused me to start blogging in the first place, like many of us, because I had so many people asking me where things were from and I was always excited to tell them.

What have you worn recently that you got a lot of compliments on? Are you like me and always have to tell people where you bought things (and how much you saved when you bought it)?

  1. I love this outfit! Also, I am so glad you put where you got your glasses from! I am in the market for a new pair and I am always on the lookout for places to buy glasses.

  4. You know just how to mix patterns like a boss! (By the way, those were the shoes I was referring to on your IG last night. LOVE them! Do they have any padding in the footbed? I love SM's sandals but they are hard a rock, so not happening.) I see a lot of striped tees with white as the background color but I'm really loving the soft grey with red. It's a refreshing change. That floral skirt is perfection. So flirty and fun.

  6. It is very validating to get a compliment. Over the years, I like to think I've gotten better at taking compliments. I used to always have to either compliment back (which I always meant but which often seems like awkward timing) or telling people where I got it. Now I just say thanks.

You DO look darling though. The bow is an especially nice touch that makes me think of Bridgette Bardot.

PS Popbasic will be selling some shirts like this in a few weeks. Might be worth checking out at least....

  7. I love print mixing!! It's my new "go to" when I'm trying to come up with a different outfit idea. Today it was patterned pants and a floral sweater, so pretty similar!

I also wanted to send you a link I posted in reply to your sweet comment on my blog. It's more likely you'll see it here. I use the J.Crew method. It's so easy: http://www.thecollegeprepster.com/2013/06/how-to-roll-sleeves-like-j-crew.html

    Hope this helps :)

  9. Yes! I feel like I've been advocating for florals and stripes and polka dots and stripes, because I'm a bully like that. I love that the top and bottom are in the same color group, so you have the print mix but it isn't too in your face. Also loveeeee the bow!

  10. i NEED a hair bow like this! I love the whole look (and I am totally copying you today, wait til you see :), but the bow is just perfection.

I always find that my most-loved/worn pieces are the most random things I've inherited from my sis or a friend, or even stuff I've found! Zumiezzzz, man I can't remember the last time I went in one of those! I do remember them having great stuff though!

    ♥ perfectly Priya
