I can't even tell you how long I've had this outfit in my head. Long, long ago, I pinned this outfit from Cupcakes and Cashmere, and I've had it stuck in my head ever since. Boyfriend jeans, easy tee, and a bright pop-of-color shoe.

I picked up this bag the other day to go with my pink dress/purple shoes combo for the wedding I attended. I searched high and low for a clutch in my price range that I didn't hate. I feel like every store used to carry clutches, but they must be ~unfashionable~ now because I went to like ten stores before finding any. I almost bought this one, but I wanted to spend as little money as possible. The little mint bag I brought home has that awesome fold-over style that means you can hide a pair of flats in the big section, while keeping your lipstick, phone, and tissues safe in the small section. It also came with a little strap, so it will probably be my tiny back-up bag this summer for adventures that don't need a whole purse of goodies.

I wasn't really a fan of mint the past few springs when it's been everywhere in stores, but I like it a lot as a subtle pop, and I love it with the purple.

Are you a clutch kind of girl? Do you ever rock heels with boyfriend jeans? Do I look like a crazy person wearing heels out on a bike trail? (The answer to the last one is yes.)

  1. Hi. I adore you. That clutch is well....clutch. Sorry, had to!

  2. I love this outfit! I'm a big fan of boyfriend jeans, casual tops, and heels, and the grey and purple look really nice together. I have never been a big fan of clutches, mostly because I have to have a ton of stuff with me at all times and I'm afraid I'll set it down and lose it (like at the store), but now that I'm not in school anymore and don't need to haul around a laptop or notebooks anymore, I'm more inclined to want to try some smaller bags. Plus, I wouldn't want a tote in mint, but I could totally do a clutch in that color. Things to try! I've seen them some in thrift stores, but I'm with you...I don't want to pay big bucks for a tiny bag. I'll basically only invest in a bag I know I'm going to carry every.single.day.

  3. P.S. Are those heels comfortable? I'm seriously considering buying a pair.

  4. you're so sweet! these photos actually reminded me of you. i think i was channeling your fab posing.

also, i had such a hard time not making a clutch joke. so glad you made it for me!

  5. if you are inclined to wear heels in the first place, then they're not bad, comfort-wise. i am terrible at wearing heels, so they hurt my feet. they're a really good height though.

the website says they run a size small, but i don't think that's true. all of the reviews seemed to say they didn't, so i bought my normal size and they fit like a glove. a shoe glove....

  6. can i just say that that is the perfect tee. and i love those shoes. you are the cutest. and i can not rock the boyfriend jeans like you do.

  7. I love that mint with purple- a color combo I'd never have thought of.

I never though of myself as a clutch girl- having to a hold a purse seemed to defeat the purpose. But after seeing my friend out and about with one and how cute (and roomy) a lot of clutches are, I might be changing my tune.

  8. Love the mint and purple combo! The location of these photos is stunning! And I really like how you just added heels and this look is instantly dressy.

  9. I can't say I'm a clutch kind of girl. I need a strap of some kind. I guess I never understood the purpose of a bag you had to keep in your hand or in your armpit all day. But maybe that's just me.

The one you ended up finding is adorable. I actually saw your last picture on Pinterest a few hours ago and immediately asked myself, "hey is that Nicole??" It's the shoes. The perfectly purple pumps.

  10. Those heels are great even on a bike path!

  11. I've never been a clutch girl. I'm more of a put it down and then lose it kind of girl so I don't think clutches are for me. Give me a nice shoulder bag and I'm sorted or no bag at all and let my bf put my phone is his pocket and he can be in charge of the money haha.

I just can't feel comfy in jeans and heals. Jeans scream converse to me and skirts and dresses scream heals. I like the look her, but I just can't pull it off.
