'fess up

photo from my Instagram
I spent all day Wednesday thinking it was Tuesday, and all day yesterday thinking it was Friday, so I'm totally checked out of this week. I realized at 10:45 last night that I didn't have a post ready for today, so I'mma play copycat on someone else's post. Maddy did a really cute confessions post earlier this week (that caused me to have Usher stuck in my head for days) and I thought I'd share a few confessions of my own.

I cannot ride a bike
I wish I'd taken ballet when I was growing up
I feel like I can't work in the fashion industry because I didn't intern in New York during high school
I'm afraid of fire, deep water, heights, and stinging insects that fly
I slept with a thesaurus under my pillow when I was little
I wholeheartedly believe in Long Island Medium, no matter what anyone says
The music I listened to in eighth and ninth grades is still my favorite music
I can't sleep without a stuffed animal
I'm really, really confused about what direction I should be taking in my career
Starting this blog might be the best thing I've ever done
I get discouraged sometimes about not having "enough" followers
I spend an unreasonable amount of time mentally planning the details of my dream wedding
But I'm not in a hurry to get married
I get really uncomfortable when other people try to suggest what's best for me regarding my body
My ideal day off would include binge-watching Say Yes to the Dress on my couch, thrifting, and eating chips
Nicole isn't my first name (I'm thinking about writing a post about this soon)
I won't read fiction except for short stories
Yes, this means I haven't read/have no interest in reading Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, etc
I'm working really hard on self-compassion
Sometimes I can't sleep because I spend too much time online window shopping and the pages scroll endlessly through my mind
My parents truly are my best friends and I tell them everything
I gauge my success by whether or not my middle school self would be proud of who I am today

What are you ready to 'fess up about?

  1. Well, now *I* have Usher stuck in my head! Loved reading more about you! Your ideal day off sounds very similar to my ideal day off. What is it about that show that I love so much?? I also can't ride a bike. Well, not anymore... You apparently CAN forget.

  2. these are my confessions... gahhh love that song! haha
I couldn't sleep without a teddy bear until I married Larry. His shoulder is the perfect teddy! I love how you gauge your success on your middle school self. I think she'd be proud of you! My middle school self was such an awkward girl, so I'm sure she's shocked and proud of me :)

  3. My confession? I don't get all the hype about Frozen. I liked the movie well enough but it just seemed a lil' underwhelming. I liked the Princess and the Frog much better and am a lil' sad that it isn't as popular.

  4. What a great post! I feel that way about the body thing too. I feel like a lot of people think there's one right way to be healthy, and I just don't think that's true. Sorry if I've ever unintentionally done that to you! I'm also in the confusing career boat. I have so many interests, and it's hard to know what I want to/should/can make a comfortable job out of and what should just stay a hobby/personal interest. Then again, you have a lifetime to work! I think I've decided that I'm probably going to be jumping around and trying different things for a while.

  5. Such a great idea for a post (and one that is unique to whomever writes it, even if you've seen it elsewhere because no one's confession will be the same!)

  6. love your confessions - you've got to learn to ride a bike! So fun!

    Happy Weekend

  7. These are so great! It's never too late to take a ballet class!

  8. whaaaaa I want to hear about your name girl! My name confession...my initials are the first 3 letters of my last name (pRIYA aNN pAPPU) and all the boys in middle school used to called me pap or pappy!! oh the woes of junior high

    ♥ perfectly Priya

  9. love this post. nicole, or whatever your real name is ;) i always thought i would be perfect for ballet and wish i would of done it. hmmm confessions: i hate the color pink, i wish i would of never highlighted my hair (its addicting), and i don't like babies (seriously they freak me out and i don't get how people are baby hungry).

  10. I need to do one of these posts. I always think they are so fun when I read them on other people's blogs. You learn so much about someone :)
ps: Some of the things we have in common:
All of the music I loved in 8th and 9th grade is still my favorite, too.
I still sleep with my "blankie."
Even though I'm already married, I am still planning/pinning my "dream" wedding haha.
I have also never read Harry Potter or the Hunger Games. I feel especially out of the loop for not reading Harry Potter because it's such a cultural phenomenon for people my age. I'm thinking about listening to it on books on tape-I've heard it's great.

  11. I absolutely loved this post, Nicole (and I'm dying to read more about your name, btdubs). There's something really vulnerable about exposing bits about you - both the big and the small. You're one in a million, and I love everything about you/your blog!

  12. (Oh, and I totally still sleep with a stuffed turtle I got when I was 7, a Disney Princess blanket I got at Walmart in high school, and a Strawberry Shortcake blanket that was given to me when I was born.)
