~awkward butt pic so you can see the cute back of the top~

shirt: Forever 21 (similar) // jeans: Gap // shoes: Steve Madden via DSW (similar) // watch: Anne Klein

This shirt? I love it. I bought it from Forever 21 after weeks of deciding. You see, I had a store credit. Is it just me that feels like I have to spend gift cards and store credit more wisely than my own, real money? It's like I have to spend it on the right thing, the most worthy thing. This, I think, is a good justification for asking for gift cards for birthdays and Chanukah. You end up buying what you really want, instead of something you want right. that. minute.

These boxy tops are my new fav. Fitted tops make me so uncomfortable--they really always have, but especially since my body has changed. I like that I have room to live in boxy tops, but they're still somehow flattering. I'll take this top in five more prints, please! I've never been a jeans + tee kind of girl, much as I wanted to, but I think this is a look I could get used to. Though, I'm already planning my next outfit: same top + skater skirt + mint purse. I want to really femme it up next time around!

PS. I had an audience of chickens as I took these photos. One of the weirder things that's happened while I've taken my photos. I guess that's Austin for ya.

  1. hahaha I do the same thing with my gift cards! I feel like the items I choose really have to be worth every dollar. Looks like that shirt is!

  2. I love this outfit! That top has such a great print. It's funny that you say you don't like fitted tops- I'm the opposite. I pretty much ONLY wear tops that fit tight enough that you can see my waistline very well. I'm also loving those jean on you- you look so gorgeously curvy!

Also, I want to see pictures of those chickens! That's too funny!

  3. In the summer I am alll about the boxy tops but then sometimes they are too boxy and I feel like a damn box. Which, I suppose, is kind of the point?

  4. I take forever deciding things like that too, but this top looks adorable.

  5. This outfit is super cute! I have some really similar black sandals, and I'm always a bit nervous to wear them with jeans (because of the ankle strap). But yours look perfect!

  6. girl, i feel your concern. i have to nail exactly the right amount of cuff on my jeans for it to work, or rock ankle pants with them.

  7. This is a fancy top! I love it on you too. Whenever I earn rewards or something I spend those more wisely as well. I should just start buying myself gift cards only and see if I do better with my shopping habits.

  9. I am so long-waisted, I never feel like I can find a boxy top that fits me properly. It's frustrating, because they are so cute!

  11. A) this shirt is supa cute
    B) " I have to spend it on the right thing, the most worthy thing." you took the words right out of my head. I love gift cards/etc, but they always feel like so much pressure!

  12. Ugh, yes...after wearing loose tops that are in style right now, I don't know how I'm ever gonna go back to fitted shirts! Love your vintage-y florals.

  13. Either retailers should help me, or I should learn to sew. Boxy tops might be okay to sew...I think. I hope.

  14. You are so adorable! I feel really insecure in fitted tops these days as well, so I have been much more drawn to flowier and more boxy tops as well (as long as they're long enough! No crop tops for this woman...). I love the print on yours. Also, those jeans look BANGING on your bod!!
