After sharing my interview outfit yesterday, I wanted to show y'all what I wore to my first day of work! This is one of my favorite outfits I've worn in forever, and I can already tell I'll be re-wearing it a ton this season.

I think it's safe to say that I am officially obsessed with scarves. Whether it's in my hair or around my neck, I love silky fabrics and pretty prints to add something unique and colorful to my outfits. I followed this scarf on My Decorated Life's Instagram shop for weeks before pulling the trigger and buying it. I am enamored with the bright colors and the beautiful floral print. So far I've been mixing it with striped every time, but I'm excited to find new ways to wear it.

Another new addition to my closet are these flats. I'm so in love I bought them in two colors (the berry ones will be here soon!). I've worn them almost every day since I bought them because they go with everything and they're so comfy. Definitely recommend!

For these photos, I actually put out a call on Facebook to see if anyone knew where swings from The Red Swing Project were hanging in town. I remember them being hung all over the place back in 2008-2011, but then I never really heard about them again. Funny enough, there's one in my part of town that I'd never noticed before. The Red Swing Project was intended to "inspire playfulness," which is totally successful because we had to wait in line to use the swing behind giggling kiddos and adults alike! The last two photos are taken in front of Adlucent, an online marketing firm that always has cute messages on their cinema-style signs.

Are you into pretty scarves this season? What did you wear on your last first day?

  1. hey Nicole! so I don't know if I've ever actually commented before, but I've been a long time silent reader of your blog, which is absolutely gorgeous. I love the outfit! I love the correspondence with the lettering on the building, that is so cool. And way to go for blogging about women's rights and feminism, I love it. Major props.

  2. sooo many comments;

    1- This is one of my favorite outfits. Stripes, scarves, that green cardigan......all my favorite pieces in one outfit!

    2- these pictures are amazing. I always love the end result when you work with Briley.

    3- The Red Swing Project sounds like it was such a fun idea! I just heard about one via a Ted Talk... You'll have to forgive me because I don't remember the specifics, but they did a project with pianos. They placed them all over the city (I wanna say Landcaster, PA?) and invited artists to decorate them. People loved it and they even would run out to cover them if it rained!.... found it online! http://keysforthecity.com/

  12. This outfit looks so comfortable but pulled together. That has to be your signature style. I can't believe how affordable those flats are. Might have to purchase some myself!

  13. I am so addicted to silk scarves; I seriously pick one up almost every time I go thrifting, and I have a hoard of about fifty in my closet. And I forget to wear them, so because of you I'm going to incorporate them back into my everyday style! Yours is so gorgeous!
    I love these pictures, and this outfit! It's a perfect first-day outfit. I don't remember what I wore for my first day, probably... something in a skirt.

No doubt these and their berry twins were a great purchase! This outfit looks comfy and totally you! A great formula to have on repeat.

    BTW- I totally looked around on Junebug and your first article! Nice work! I hope you are loving it, I really enjoyed what I saw!

  15. Awww so cute! Nice outfit and I love the signs. That's funny that a marketing firm does that. I was wondering what the deal was. I always forget to wear scarves, but this is a good reminder. I have a bunch sitting around.

  16. I've been eye-ing those same flats for months! I really need some pointed toe cognac ones but I couldn't tell online if there were more cognac or brown. What color would you call them?
    I do love the color combo in this outfit! And stripes and florals are forever winning in my book :)
