If this outfit looks familiar, it's because I wore it to day three of ACL Fest. As I walked home that night, Pearl Jam playing in the distance, the wind whipping my dress and hair around, I felt awfully witchy. For a moment, I was imagining myself in a Stevie Nicks music video. It was one of those moments of being alone that felt all romantic, like I was in a movie. I spent so much time searching for those moments in high school and college. Now I spend more of my time based in reality, but this was a nice, fleeting moment.

This abandoned church is actually less than a block away from my new office. I pass it every day going to and from work, and I told Briley we had to shoot there. The light in the marquee that hasn't been turned off, but has no inspirational psalm to offer; the out-of-place palm trees; the contrasting dark and light elements. With Halloween coming up, I thought it would be fun to photograph my witchy outfit in an ominous setting.

We had so much fun shooting these photos, and I'm in love with how they came out. As a little almost-Halloween treat, I give you this:

  1. Oooh, another awesome set of photos/location! I just love this old marquee and it couldn't be more perfect for an October outfit. I totally know what you mean about moments like that--I always look out for them! Who doesn't want to feel like their in a Disney Channel Movie for a minute. I like to call them "moments for life" after that Nicki Minaj song, "I wish that I could have this moment for life..."

Also impressed by how artfully you've mixed black + brown! I used to not like that combo at all but, I've started to embrace it!

  5. I LOVE these pictures!! They are so perfect for fall and Halloween, and you look wonderful! I love it when moments like the one you described happen; it's fun to pretend for a few moments that you're in a music video or movie (I do that all the time, haha!).
And that last picture: simultaneously cute and creepy.
