on my list | sassy straw hats

It all happened on Friday. I was having a crummy day by 10 AM, so I decided to go to Target to buy some cake donuts. On my way to said donuts, I passed the prettiest straw fedora. I put it on my head, expecting it to fall over my face like all hats do because I have a tiny head, but then it fit. I didn't take it off as I procured my donuts, and then I bought it and it went back to work with me.

Hats tend to be rather large on my little head, but this one fit like a sassy little dream. However, being from Target, I don't know if it's the hat that's going to last me very long. So, even though I just bought a sassy straw hat...I'm wishlisting these babies!

The Panama hats have been everywhere this summer, and while I, of course, love the Madewell version, the Express hat is also super cute! I'm also into the look of the flat Apt 9 hat, which would look so sweet with a little chambray dress and flats. Both of the Brixton hats (five and six) have my eye (and heart) because I know I can get them in a smaller size (heck yes!), and I love that both of them are seasonally versatile. Speaking of versatility, is a black hat more or less so?

Hats! Are you into them? What's on your wishlist this week?

  1. I have the exact opposite problem. Hats never fit my big head! I dream of wearing adorable hats but none ever fit me. :(

  2. Another blogger was just commenting that she didn't think she would wear the straw fedora she bought all that much, but she finds herself putting it on every single day. I love the black one. It's more my speed.

  3. same! my head is giant and then I have huge hair on top of it all. Hats never want to stay on my head :(

  4. I'm in a similar boat! I bought my first one this summer and now i'm totally interested in buying a million more! But I also know that as the trend dies down my collection will probably die with it so I've been holding off. 1, 3, & 5 on this list are my favorites!

  5. I am IN LOVE with #2. Serious style question for you: is it appropriate to wear a hat all day long in the office? And if not, then how to combat hat-hair once at the office?

  6. I have a tiny head too, so I have that same problem. Plus, I just feel awkward about them. What do I do with it when it's not on my head? What am I supposed to do with my hair when it's no longer on my head? Is my outfit ruined now that this accessory is not part of it? I have a couple of hats that I think are cute, but I never wear them for logistical reasons, and I haven't bought a new one in years. I wish I was a hat person!

  7. I so agree about the awkwardness. I think hats have to act as a completer piece for an outfit, so if you take it off the outfit feels off. SO you have to really commit to wearing the hat, but also that can feel like such a big commitment (for some reason?).

However, after I wore mine for a full day last Friday, I went shopping after work and wore it, and every time I caught myself in the mirror, it wasn't like WOW WHY IS THAT GIRL WEARING A HAT, it was just like, hey she looks cute. I think the awkwardness of wearing it is all in our heads.

  8. Hats need to come in way more sizes! This is why I like Brixton so much -- there are measurements and each hat comes in several sizes! AND they aren't like crazy-priced, mostly!

  10. I bet you look so cute in that hat.
I love hats but hats do not love me. My face is too round and I always look like I'm trying too hard. Maybe because I try hard. Probably.
