I'm welcoming March with open arms. Daylight Savings Time is coming, the bluebonnets are blooming, I've been able to wear sandals and sundresses; this time of year always comes as a relief. I'm off to a running start on my goals for the month (which I'll share next Monday!) after a mini-vacay at the end of February.
But enough about what's ahead. Let's talk about this outfit for a sec. At the end of a season, I always find myself feeling uninspired by what's in my closet. I decide I've worn all my clothes all the ways they can be worn over the last several weeks, so the season better change or people better just get used to seeing me in the same outfits again and again. And then, like clockwork, I come up with something I haven't worn before.
I was so set on styling this sweatshirt with my navy gingham, and I got a lot of wear out of that look. I kept racking my brain for something else, though. There had to be another layering option! I was waiting for a movie to start, while the pre-previews played in front of me, and I started listing my winter clothes in my phone. And then I remembered. Polka dots. A pattern you can count on.
This outfit is a perfect representation of the playfully classic style I coined last summer: a timeless equation of sweater over button down elevated by quirky elements. A few polka dots and a little fringe are officially my answer to a static closet.
