Happy Friday! I've got good news and bad news for you today. The good news is that you're about to look at some really pretty stuff that I now own. The bad news is that 100% of it was outside of my quarterly budget. Since I already overspent my budget in April, I literally should have done zero shopping in May. However, May is my birthday month, so IDGAF and I do what I want. Okay, but really there were a few good reasons why I made the conscious decision to buy the things I did this month. Since I make the rules around here, I rule that these reasons are as excellent as the things I bought:
1. Ann Taylor was having a crazy great sale at the end of April (post-April budget post)
2. ModCloth IRL was in town for only the remainder of this month
3. Shorts are a necessity living in Texas, and mine from last summer don't fit anymore
What I bought:
Ann Taylor Signature Crossbody Tote - $40.00 (originally $79.99)
Gap 1969 Summer Shorts - $29.95 (originally $49.95)
ModCloth Raising the Bar-becue Skirt - $39.99 (originally $49.99)
ModCloth Aspiration Creation Skirt - $39.99 (originally $49.99)
Quarterly Budget Spent: $762.52
Quarterly Budget Remaining:
We've already established that I way way overspent my budget, so let's focus on something else. Can you believe that none of these pieces were bought after the first week of May? I hosted my event at ModCloth on May 3 (where I purchased the gingham and rainbow skirts), which happened to be the same night that Dago got injured. The Ann Taylor and Gap purchased were both actually made at the tail-end of April, so, even though my budget doesn't reflect it, I hardly shopped in May!
I love everything I bought a whole darn lot. I have outfits of all of these things photographed, so you'll see them in action in the coming weeks!
What I received:
Swedish Hasbeens Debutante Sandals -
$159 c/o Shopbop
Kate Spade Eleni Flats -
$159.60 c/o Shopbop
Kate Spade Cape Drive Darla Wallet -
$88 c/o Shopbop
ModCloth Chirps and Salsa Skirt -
$59.99 c/o ModCloth
ModCloth Intrinsically Whimsical Top -
$44.99 c/o ModCloth
I always want to disclose what I receive from the brands who support this ole blog. In addition to my usual Shopbop credit (which I saved up for some serious Kate Spade birthday gifts to myself), I received an outfit from ModCloth for my event. So many cute animal prints are now in my closet!
So that's it for May! I have two shopping trips planned for this Memorial Day weekend to take advantage of the sales, but I don't intend to do much/any other shopping in June. I've got my birthday discount from Anthro to use -- I'm looking at this dress, but I'm not sure how it's going to fit based on the reviews. Then I'm going to trek to the outlet mall to visit J.Crew Factory. I'm hoping to try on this skirt, these shorts, this popover, and this top.
