Remember when I mentioned the gingham skirt from ModCloth that every single lady looked slammin' in? For some reason, I was trying to resist it, justifying that "I've got plenty of gingham already!" Thank goodness I tried it on because my life certainly would not have been complete without this one.
For my first gingham skirt outfit, I wanted to show off how to wear black and white for summer. I feel like I don't wear (or see) a lot of black and white outfits during the warmer weather, but with a gingham print, straw hat, and pair of clogs, it really doesn't get much more summery than this.
Aside from the pieces themselves, my best tip for wearing black and white in the summer is to add tan and gold accessories. It instantly warms up the otherwise color lack-of-color combo. I used the same trick for warming up this outfit last summer. Even though the white was subbed out for light blue, my tan accessories had the same affect.
Speaking of tan accessories, have I convinced you that you need a straw hat yet? I picked a few (okay more than a few) favorite Panama and boater hats that would be equally perfect as my Target one for your summertime ensembles.
P.S. Do you think this guy liked my outfit?
